![]() Dear player-advance readers,
I'm hoping you are willing to help a fellow homebrew game developer. some of you might know me from my gba homebrew games and demos (you can find out about some here : http://www.playeradvance.org/forum/s...d.php?p=125578) For the past year I've been working on my DSi-Ware game called Flipper. I did 90% of the game by myself, after school and during the night. Basically every free minute I had, I spend on development of this game. The game is coming out on 23 April. The problem is that I'm not a big company, and I have to do my own promotion. Because of this, it's very hard for me to promote in France. And I was hoping some of you could help me out! I was hoping some of you have connections with french gaming websites, and could help me promote the game a little by sending an email to them about the game! I know that French people have high standards when it comes to games, after all you are used to the work of Eric Chahi and Titus. However, I believe my game has a special charm. And I'm hoping it has a change to prove itself in France! Thanks in advance! ---------------------------------------- About the game : One of my homebrew demos showed some of my voxel technology. Over the years I've improved that engine and than build a game around it. The result is a very innovating game called Flipper! The goal of the game is to find your goldfish back (named Flipper). You can use powerups to totally change the (voxel) world. - You can blow up walls - build staircases and platforms - rebuild broken things like bridges you can watch a trailer here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uM97c-ojAFg |

![]() Dear readers,
My name is Hugo Smits. Some of you might know my homebrew games for GBA. Here's a topic about one : http://www.playeradvance.org/forum/s...ead.php?t=7660 For the past year I've been working on my DSi-Ware game Flipper. I did this in pure homebrew style; after school and into the nights. I basically spend every minute on development. The problem is that I'm not a big company. This makes it hard to promote my game. And I was hoping you guys could help a fellow homebrew developer a bit by promoting this game in France (maybe some of you know a good videogame website that could post a news item ?). I know French developers have a high quality standard when it comes to games, especially when you look at the work of Titus or Éric Chahi. However my game features a innovating concept build around voxel technology, and I think it's worth to be played. So I hope you guys could help me promote it a little! ------------------------ About the game : The hero of the game is a courageous young boy. You must lead him through various worlds full of obstacles to retrieve his stolen goldfish called Flipper! Get ready for a 3D puzzle platform game set over 4 different worlds, with 5 levels each! The game features beautiful pixel-art backdrops, cheerful cartoon characters and catchy music. The voxel engine technology allows you to change the environment with some cool power-ups. You can find power-ups that let you blast holes in the environment, build platforms, or restore parts you've previously destroyed. It's up to you to use the limited amount of power-ups wisely to complete each level. Flipper is a fun and challenging puzzle game that is suitable for all ages. for more information : http://www.flippergame.com http://www.goodbyegalaxygames.com To read about the development cycle : http://www.twitter.com/HugoSmits http://goodbyegalaxygames.blogspot.com |

![]() Same opinion as RicePudding: I like it, but I don't have a DSi.
Just to know, how did you create game for the DSiWare (obtain the SDK, submit to Nintendo, ...)? Also, is it you that created the official trailer or it was managed by Nintendo? Thanks ![]()

![]() thanks for the kind comments!
I'm 24 years old right now, and I have been working in the game industry since I'm 15 (mainly as a 3D programmer/engineer). Because of this I have alot of connections with developers and even Nintendo. So getting the SDK and stuff wasn't hard for me ![]() ------------------------------ We had to create our own trailer (my friends from Xform helped me with that). It turned out really good, I still like it alot myself! Promotion has been the hardest part. Creating the game was easy. Because I love to code, and I love Nintendo handhelds. Before this I did alot of gameboy stuff, so for me it was just great fun to create this game. Ofcourse there were problems and hard to solve bugs, but it never felt like 'work' to me. So I had no problem with spending my whole night on development. I've never done any kind of promotion, so it's really hard to figure it all out on the go. |
